Phase 1
Action Plan
-
Identify a server to host the app/programming language used to create the app
-
Identify useful plugins to embed a Google Map on the app
-
Determine what constitutes as a parking space (ie. size, location)
-
Work with Tulane parking services to fully understand how their parking works
-
Create the preliminary map that has all specified functions
-
Click on building and identifies surrounding parking
-
Differentiates between paid and free parking
-
-
Research all of the available parking on Tulane’s campus, and within a block radius of campus
-
Differentiating between paid parking and unpaid parking
-

Designing the app
-
Adobe XD
-
This service will prototype the user experience in an app. Through this we will be able to set up exactly what we want the app to look like so that the implementation of the design will be easier. This interface allows for user interaction so we can test and tweak our design in the beginning stages.

Base fee for server/host
-
IBM
-
Lite: No time limit, No credit card required, 256 MB of Cloud Foundry memory, 1 instance per Lite plan, App auto-sleep, Service garbage collection
-
Using lite will allow us to have as much time as we need to figure out the ins and the outs of app creation on IBM. With this unlimited time we will be able to decide what potential add ons we might need to pay for, or if Lite has all of the capabilities that our app requires.

-
In location-based applications, geospatial data — including points, polygons and linestrings — captures the location, size and shape of real-world objects
-
This capturing of geospatial relationships will be important for interpreting parking spots, and the size of parking spots in the app
-
With Cloudant we will be able to identify an exact location and area that we want to focus on and zone in on that area
-
Web and mobile developers can enhance their applications with geospatial operations, enabling advanced location-based features, mapping functionality and situational awareness.

For the IBM Lite plan that will be used, the cost is $0
